Copyright

The creator's rights to his work are regulated by the Copyright Act.

Copyright is not entered in a register, but arises - regardless of the type of work - through its creation. Unlike patents, trademark rights or design registrations, it is not possible to obtain protection through formal registration.

A prerequisite for the existence of copyright protection is a work within the meaning of § 2 (2) Urhebergesetz (UrhG), i.e. that a personal intellectual creation exists.
